A Note From Dr. Chantal Acosta
Hello! My name is Chantal Acosta, and I've been a veterinarian here in New York City since I graduated from Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2001. I created Vet Loves Pet in order to practice my own kind of veterinary medicine, one which focuses on a holistic approach to wellness.
My philosophy is based on a belief that is time for veterinarians to move past a profession based on treating illnesses—and instead build on a foundation of preventive medicine and daily well-being.Under my care, your pet will receive an individualized and comprehensive wellness plan designed to keep it healthy and happy as long as possible. After I listen to your needs and concerns, we—together, as a team—will figure out how to best serve our little companions. The examination and discussion will be done in the comfort of your home, in an environment which feels safe to your pet.
My promise to you is to work my hardest to give your pet the best available care based on my knowledge and research, and to treat each pet as if though it were my own.
Dr. Chantal Acosta was born and raised in Lima, Peru. Her childhood pets, including a German Shepherd, several hamsters, and a turtle, were an invaluable source of companionship and comfort. After witnessing how stray animals were mistreated, she vowed to become involved with animal care in her adult life. After graduating Summa Cum Laude from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1996 with a BA in Political Geography, she was accepted into the Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine, where she received her degree in Veterinary Medicine in 2001. Since then, she has worked at both large, fast-paced hospitals and small, two-doctor practices in Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens. Dr. Acosta is a regular guest on the Sirius XM81Doctor Radio show and a columnist for Woman's Day Magazine answering pet-related questions.
